Application management

Deploy apps with the click of a button or simply Integrate with your CI/CD. Create git branches for different environments to safely develop, test and deploy your applications.

Application Management

  • Apps built on Appsmith are hosted and managed by the platform.
  • Appsmith allows for multiple applications to be built inside an organisation. Users inside the organisation have access to all the applications and can be invited using varying roles

Use commonly used customizable JS code snippets to speed up app building process

Application Hosting

  • Apps built on Appsmith are saved inside the MongoDB database of Appsmith and served to the React client.
  • Apps are saved in our own DSL format and contain information around the UI of the application as well as all the associated queries of the application. The query information is only available to admins and developers and is securely executed from the backend for app viewers.
  • Note: Apps are generated at runtime and thus cannot be hosted outside the appsmith platform on a CDN

Deploying, Import and Export Apps

  • Apps inside Appsmith have a view and edit mode. Changes made to the edit mode are not reflected to app viewers till they are explicitly deployed.
  • Apps can be exported from the application home page. Apps can only be exported by administrators.
  • Note: Apps are exported along with secret keys. Apps can then be imported on any Appsmith instance by uploading the application JSON file

Pages

  • Applications consist of multiple pages which consist of queries and widgets. Navigation between pages is automatically generated by the platform.
  • Separating application context across pages improves the UX of applications and is more performant.
  • You can share data between multiple pages

Version Control (Coming Soon)

  • Applications can be checked into your git repositories to ensure you are able to work on separate branches, perform code reviews, and even develop on your local machine.
